Overview

XXL Facet Rail #4 has three distinct sections on the primary side of the hold. There is a 5-degree sloping section, a 15-degree sloping section, and a 5-degree incut section. The areas are about 1-1/2" deep, similar to the size of a 2 x 4 board bolted to your wall. The profile of the hold is bigger than a 2 x 4 as the face is contoured out for maximum hand comfort.

When setting with this hold, it is a good choice for a beginner on a vertical wall, specifically in the horizontal orientation.  The different angled sections allow you to grip from easy, medium to hard all in one hold. Orienting the hold vertically steps up its difficulty in a dramatic V3 feeling way.

As the climbing wall gets steeper, so does the difficulty of this hold, and it happens quickly. Expect V4 on a 25-degree overhanging wall, and V7+ on a 45-degree wall.
