Double Hander Nautilus

Want to go camping in your roof section?

It's a big one to say the least. Huge jugs on both sides of the hold, this artistically designed jug gets your climbers through difficult steep sections, including roofs with ease. If you are looking for a hold to set your next steep wall or roof problem that beginner and intermediate climbers will have a chance to get through, this hold is a great choice.

Let's not forget vertical walls. Each side of the hold is very rounded so that when the walls are vertical, the roundness of the part where you grab is comfortable. This makes it an excellent choice to set with on vertical walls.

Route Setting Tip:

Why such a large hold on vertical walls? Because I guarantee your climbers will love it. Try this traverse problem. Depending on your target size/age group, set this hold aside to the right or left of your last hold. For a 5 or 6 year old, this is about 36 inches. Just close enough so that the climber won't have to jump but ends up in the "iron cross" position. Use lots of feet. Then the next hold after the DH Nautilus should be about the same distance of 36 inches. This will force the climber to use the hold to get on to it and then a second time to move after it! Classic route setting. For adult climbers, figure out your average ape index of the your crew and set the hold there away from your last hold. Usually in the 60 to 72 inch range. Remember lots of feet to make it fair for the shorter climber and even some intermediate holds. Just be sure that if you use intermediate holds, that there is no chance that they could be held on to. They should be just big enough to be able to generate momentum but small enough so that you could not actually make a move off of it. Try this set for intermediate holds...
